The FAGOTTO CARPENTERIE, factory was born in 1961, since then – 10 years of innovation and production in the market of sport aircraft. From Carpenerie Pagotto’s passion and experience in the sector of pleasurable sport aviation came the birth of the NAKED autogyro. It is a synthesis of the accrued experiences in the construction of fixed-wing aircraft and trikes.
WHAT IS AN AUTOGYRO ?
The autogyro is an aircraft which uses the two systems typical of the aeroplane and of the helicopter to fly. For the thrust it uses a rotor (rotating-wing) like the one of the helicopters. The motor is usually set behind the pilot. The autogyro allows short take-off and landing and the piloting is easier than the one of the helicopter.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN A HELICOPTER AND AN AUTOGYRO
The Autogyro and helicopter are two fascinating machines and most of all they are able to do manoeuvres which are different to those of common fixed-wing planes and specific to this kind of aircraft. Both these flying machines own a rotating wing with which they can generate the necessary thrust power to fly.
“CARPENTERIA PAG0TT0 are the first in the world to introduce the use of the skids.”
It is this feature, that influences considerably their aspect, confuse s the laymen observer, making the distinction difficult. Different are the aerodynamic powers, the stress, the angles of incidence and the present freedom degrees.
NAKED AUTOGYRO COSTS
The autogyro presents, in comparison with the other aircraft, a lot of economic advantages. The upkeep is minimal, with mainly the engine requiring regular checks. The gear is easy and doesn’t need much room, and easily transported by trailer- disassembling only the rotor to prevent damage.
The autogyro is a product that occupies a precise market segment. In Italy there is only one autogyro producer and in Europe there are another two. They can be used for the following utilizations:
- telephones lines check
- road patrolling
- overflight for potentially dangerous situations check/monitoring
- military
- environmental check
- agricultural treatments
- short transports
The receivers of this market are: public authorities, public and private enterprises, governments and private individuals. The European market manages to absorb about 200 ready-to-fly machine s a year, with the 200 % increment trend a year. In New Zealand and in South Africa the use of the autogyro passed from a deviation machine to a work one.
BUILDING THE NAKED AUTOGYRO
The loom is INOX (stainless) tubular steel entirely TIG welded. The chosen materials for every parts of the autogyro are selected and tested. It is available with the 912 uls 100hp Rotax motor or the 115 hp turbo Rotax motor.
THE HEAD OF THE ROTOR
The rotor head is aircraft grade 2024 T6 milled aluminum and it is provided with a handbrake and pre-rotation Bendix which allows a 260 rotor speed starting – useful for short take-offs. The transmission of the pre-rotation is cardan joint and the rotor head is equipped with an air trim for long flight comfort.
THE NAKED AUTOGYRO ROTOR
The Rotor is the thrust part of the machine, it is in extruded steel.

NAKED AUTOGYRO ACCESSORIES
The Naked autogyro is supplied with:
- complete flight instrumentation
- complete motor instrumentation
- hydraulic brakes with handbrake control
- double flight controls (adapted for the school or for the double piloting)
- cardan joint pre-rotation
- anti-overturning skids (important accessory for the safety)
The NAKED definitive version was shown at the BLOIS 2007 International Fair in France, where the public interest concentrated on the anti-overturning skids, which,is very useful when landing on rambling ground, or in case of a strong crosswind, or during instruction where the students make wrong landing manoeuvres. CARPENTERIA PACOTTO are the first in the world to introduce the use of the skids. The reliability of the Rotax motor together with the decennial flight experience have found in NAKED their synergy, creating a product with various uses and destined to a growing market.
